Boeing Awards ViaSat AH-64E Contract

The Boeing Company has recently awarded ViaSat Inc., a global provider of secure networking services and high-speed satellite broadband services covering commercial and military markets, a contract for the production of around 90 Link 16 Small Tactical Terminals (STT). These Small Tactical Terminals will be used for the Lots 5 and 6 on the production line for the AH-64E Apache Guardian Attach Helicopter.

The AH-64 Apache is used by the United States Army as well as various other international defense forces and is the world’s most advanced multi-role combat helicopter. The contract awarded by Boeing will cover the full-rate of STT production for Apache helicopters for the next two years. The STT has also been chosen by the United States Government as the long-term radio solution for Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW) and Link 16 capability for the AH-64E Apache helicopters. The loyalty to the STT is due to the terminal’s capabilities to save the United States government around $250M while simultaneously meeting the ongoing needs of current warfighters over the life of the program.

The AH-64E Apache award is a significant milestone for ViaSat in that it enables us to deliver critical communications capabilities for Army aviation while providing a logistically common solution for Link 16 needs across multiple applications, said the general manager and senior vice president of the Government Systems.
