Cessna Begins European Tour of New Citation Latitude

Cessna has begun a three-week tour of their new business jet, the Citation Latitude, at London Biggin Hill airport as part of a multi-city tour. The journey began in London on September 15^th, which is annual Business and General Aviation Day.

This is their newest jet, one that seats nine passengers, and costs $16.3 million. The Latitude gained US certification from the FAA in June of this year, after a development period that took over three years. It first entered US service last month, and now they are looking to get it validated in Europe in the near future so they can deliver it to their customers.

This new addition will bring Cessna’s business jet fleet to a total of 16 aircraft. The contemporary design and spacious cabin design makes it one of the most comfortable in the midsize jet category.

Textron Aviation’s vice president Tom Perry is eager to get the European approval and begin fulfilling orders to their customers. It is expected to be good to go by the fourth quarter of this year, and high sales are anticipated due to its distinct design.

The Latitude is unique in the Cessna product line, with its flat floor and sector-leading six-feet-high, five-feet-wide cabin. We expect it take the midsize market by storm, said Perry.

This would put the Latitude right in the middle of their product line, between the superlight XLS and the midsize Sovereign +. They don’t think it will take away from the sales of these two aircraft, as each offers their own unique capabilities. Perry is not concerned by their closest competitor, the Embraer Legacy 500, which has been in service in Europe since May.

We don’t worry about the competition. We will let the customers make their choice, Perry said.
