Zodiac Aerospace was a leading aerospace company founded in France in 1896. Prior to the advent and popularization of airplanes, Zodiac produced hydrogen balloons which were popular in France at the time as a form of tourism. In order to help the war effort in World War I, the company switched focus to manufacture airplanes and balloon airships for the French Navy. From the 1930s to 1990s, Zodiac tried to break into multiple markets, including recreational boating and meteorology balloons but eventually settled back into the aerospace industry.

After multiple acquisitions of smaller aviation companies such as Monogram and Intertechnique, Zodiac successfully composed a team of engineers that focused on many different aviation segments. Zodiac Aerosafety focused on in-flight and ground safety systems and rescue solutions such as parachutes and inflatable life jackets. Zodiac Aircraft Systems specialized in in-flight functions such as cockpit supplies, electrical power management systems, in-flight entertainment and seating, fluid and waste management solutions, and popular telemetry applications. Their Galleys and Equipment segment produced twin-aisle kitchen and rest areas, supplied kitchen equipment, and equipped aircraft with equipment supply trolleys. Zodiac Cabin and Structures created OEM cabin interiors for both commercial and regional aircraft, offered cabin refitting programs, and created composite materials for cabin interiors. Lastly, the Seat division specialized in business and economy class seats and the composite materials that made them up.

In 2007, as a further commitment to its status as an aerospace company, Zodiac sold the rest of its marine business and shifted its goals. They focused the remainder of the 2000s on manufacturing cabin separators, cabling and interconnect systems, and galleys. In 2010, a bid was made by the French aerospace giant Safran to acquire Zodiac, but the group declined. Nevertheless, Zodiac would continue to do very well with its different product lines until 2018, when Safran acquired the company for $1 billion. The new parent company continues to build upon the foundation laid by Zodiac and still supports most of its product lines.
