The Eclipse 500, also referred to as the Eclipse Aerospace EA500, is a very light jet that was designed and originally manufactured by Eclipse Aviation before being sold by Eclipse Aerospace. With a production run spanning from December 2006 to November 2008, around 260 units were produced for a variety of customers. The Eclipse 500 was first introduced in 2002, and it later became considered the first of the new class of Very Light Jets. When Eclipse Aviation filed for bankruptcy in 2008, the Eclipse 500 halted production, later being developed into the Eclipse 550 by Eclipse Aerospace.
