The Sikorsky S-92 is a medium-lift transport and utility helicopter, developed and designed by Sikorsky Aircraft. Serving both the civil and military helicopter market, the S-92 has been in production since 1998 and over 300 units have been produced. The S-92 first began development during the late 20th century, spawning from a need for an offshore helicopter that could aid in oil and gas endeavors. Through multiple prototypes, Sikorsky eventually settled on what would become the S-92, and certification and orders began during the early 2000’s. With many units still in active service, the Sikorsky S-92 operates under users such as CHC Helicopter, Bristow Helicopters, Petroleum Helicopters International, and Cougar Helicopters.
