The MD Explorer is a light twin utility helicopter designed and manufactured by MD Helicopters, first introduced in 1992 under McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Systems before their merger with Boeing. Since initial production began in 1992, a number of units and variants have been produced, many of which remain in active service under operators such as the Mexican Navy, Landespolizei, Luxembourg Air Rescue, and Drug Enforcement Administration. The Explorer first launched in 1989, and it serves as the first McDonnell Helicopter to incorporate the NOTAR system.
