The Bell/Agusta BA609, now formally known as the AgustaWestland AW609, is a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) corporate transport that is currently under development by AgustaWestland. The BA609 first began as a project of Bell/Agusta Aerospace, a joint venture formed by Bell Helicopter and AgustaWestland for the design and production of the BA609. In 2011, however, AgustaWestland assumed full control over the project, redesignating the aircraft to its current model name. Leading into 2015, many tests and flight hours have been logged by the prototypes of the AW609, and it continues to be developed and tested for flight in the present with an expected introduction during 2020.
