Mexico’s Transportes Aéreos Pegaso Orders 10 Airbus H145 Helicopters

The Mexican operator, Transportes Aéreos Pegaso, has signed a framework agreement to purchase ten H145 helicopters from Airbus Helicopters. This deal establishes Transportes Aéreos Pegaso as the first Latin American company to operate these twin-engine helicopters. Transportes Aéreos Pegaso has been in operation for more than 30 years, leading the industry in executive air transportation services, personal transportation, cargo transportation, and off-shore flights. This new deal will allow Transportes Aéreos Pegaso to gradually replace their existing fleet of four EC135s and sixteen EC145s.

Transportes Aéreos Pegaso’s CEO, Enrique Zepeda, has stated: The EC145 has performed very well in our operations, and we look forward to experiencing the enhanced capabilities of the new H145 version.

Claiming the reputation as the quietest helicopter on the market, the H145 Airbus helicopter is an evolution of the popular EC145 model. The H145 helicopter features an innovative new digital avionics suite, four-axis autopilot, and the new Turbomeca Arriel 2E engine with increased performance capabilities. In addition to these enhancements, the new H145 will include an anti-torque system with Airbus’ signature Fenestron shrouded tail rotor, an upgraded main gearbox, as well as a new tail gearbox.

The deal signed between Transportes Aéreos Pegaso and Airbus Helicopters will allow for deliveries of these twin-engine helicopters over the span of seven years, beginning in the year 2016. In this agreement, the ten H145 helicopters from Airbus Helicopters will be specifically designed for Transportes Aéreos Pegaso’s needs. Pegaso’s H145s will be distinctly engineered for their airlift services, allowing Transportes Aéreos Pegaso to focus on the energy industry and the Gulf of Mexico’s gas and oil activities. The Airbus H145 can be utilized in a variety of different functions, as this aircraft can be reconfigured easily and quickly for an array of diverse services and needs, whether aerial work, police duties, or emergency medical services.
