Functionality of Electrode Holder: An electrode is a solid Electric conductor that has the ability to carry electric currents into non-metallic solids, liquids, or gases. There are two different types of Electrodes, Cathode & Anode. When an electrical current is leaving the electrode, it is known as the cathode, when the electrical current is leaving the electrode is considered an Anode. In order to effectively transfer electrons, electrodes are typically made of copper, gold, platinum, or other metallic substances due to those being great electricity conductors.

The job of the Electrode holder, also known as a stinger, is act as a clamping device for holding the electrode securely in position. There are two types of Electrode holders: Insulated and Non-insulated. The difference is insulated Electrode holders are safe from short circuiting.

Electrodes and the Electrode holders are used all the time on a variety of different applications due to its use in welding. Arc Welding is the process used to join metal to other metal by utilizing electricity to create enough heat to melt metal. When the liquid hot melted metal is cooled it binds to other metal applications. The Electrode holder allows the user to safely operate the Electrode’s high heat needed to melt metal.
