The Eclipse 400 ECJ, otherwise known as simply the Eclipse 400, is a civil utility aircraft that was designed by Swift Engineering & Eclipse Aviation. The developing aircraft was first revealed publicly during the 2007 AirVenture event. As a single-engine, very light jet, the Eclipse 400 was to compete with aircraft such as the Piper PA-47 PiperJet, Cirrus Vision SF50, Epic Victory, and Diamond D-Jet. The first flight of the Eclipse 400 was conducted in 2007, shortly before its public unveiling, and orders began only a year later in 2008. Due to financial difficulties during 2008, Eclipse Aviation filed for bankruptcy and the project was cancelled.
