The Aviat Eagle II is an aerobatic biplane aircraft that was designed by Frank Christensen and is currently produced by the American manufacturer Aviat Aircraft Inc. The Eagle II is a kit form aircraft, meaning that it is intended for homebuilding. The aircraft features a box truss fuselage design and single bay staggered biplane wings. Within the Eagle II, a pilot and one passenger may be situated in tandem within a bubble canopy. The Eagle II uses a variety of materials for its structure, such as a chromoly steel fuselage and tail, aluminum skinned forward fuselage, fabric tail covering, and Sitka spruce wood wing structure.
The Aviat Eagle II features a Lycoming AEIO-360-A1D engine configuration, capable of producing 200 horsepower to travel at a maximum cruise speed of 99 knots. The fuel engine capacity is 27 US gallons, providing for a maximum travel range of 380 nautical miles with a fuel economy averaging at 32.29 nautical miles per gallon. Currently, four variants of the aircraft exist, these being the Christen Eagle I, Christen/Aviat Eagle II, Christen Super Eagle I 540, and the Christen Super Eagle II.
