For flight operations, the Bombardier 415 utilizes two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW123AF turboshafts, capable of producing 2,380 horsepower to travel at a maximum cruise speed of 194 knots. The travel range of the aircraft is 1,319 nautical miles, due in part to its fuel tank capacity of 1,530 gallons and 0.99 nautical miles per gallon fuel economy. As the aircraft is designed to serve as a water bomber, it is capable of scooping up 1,620 US gallons of water and dumping it on a fire without the need for refueling. With its design, it is also capable of performing such duties with low risk of corrosion due to various water chemical compositions.
