This directory is designed for situations where you know what a component is called but do not have its exact part number or National Stock Number (NSN). Entries are arranged by their first letter or number, allowing you to move from a general description to associated part and NSN records.

How Part-Type Entries Are Organized

A part-type entry may contain a standard item name, functional description, size, model reference, or part-number fragment. For example, catalog entries can range from general descriptions such as actuated ball valve or sealing ring to more specific names containing dimensions or identifying characters.

Naming conventions often vary between manufacturers, technical manuals, and procurement records, meaning similar products may appear under different terms. A valve might be described according to its actuation method, connection size, material, or system function. When an expected term produces no match, a broader component name or known synonym may help identify the relevant listing.

When Part-Type Browsing Is Useful

Part-type browsing can help when working from:

  • A component name in a maintenance record

  • A partial description from a bill of materials

  • A functional term without an identifying number

  • An incomplete or difficult-to-read component marking

This approach is particularly useful for broad inventories containing commercial products, ground-support equipment, and military aviation components, where the same general item may be documented under different naming conventions.

Confirm a Potential Match

A matching part type only identifies a relevant product family. It does not confirm fit, interchangeability, or approval for a particular platform. Verify the manufacturer, complete part number, NSN, CAGE Code, revision, dimensions, material, specifications, and intended application before procurement.

When several listings appear similar, compare them against the applicable technical manual, drawing, approved parts list, or existing component label. Including these records with an RFQ can reduce identification delays.

Request a Quote

Select a relevant listing and submit the part number or NSN, quantity, condition, documentation requirements, and delivery deadline. ASAP Aerospace typically responds to completed RFQs within 15 minutes with availability and tailored procurement options.
