Functionality of Brackets: Brackets are one of the many different types of components used to construct the airframe of an aircraft. The main purpose of brackets is to support the load and resist the stress of the forces acting upon the airframe. There are five major stresses that act on an aircraft as it moves through the air. Tension, compression, torsion, shear, and bending all have an impact on the overall shape or put stress on the aircraft. The brackets work to maintain the structure of the aircraft, therefore avoiding any strain on the key components.

Common Applications: There are different kinds and shapes of brackets depending on the specific application on the aircraft. The most common construction material used on aircraft are aluminum, magnesium, titanium steel, and their alloys. Aluminum brackets are high-strength and light-weight making them ideal for aircraft airframes. Loading brackets are critical in supporting the weight of the engine during handling on the ground and are removed prior to flight. Fixed-place brackets are found in the landing gear, airframe assembly, fuselage, and wings of an aircraft.
